Concept art for a possible web comic. I wanted to combine what I'm going to be learning about technology with a visual narrative. This is me beginning to explore that.
I thought one cool way for me to do that was to make a comic about monsters and have it be interactive. But since then, the concept has changed to be more directly about technology.
Week Two
First concept sketches of Ada vs the current character sheet
Week two was developing the concept art for "There's a Ghost in the Machine" I started developing the different character sheets as well as drawing lots of pages of different pages of places, characters, and events to explore the diea of the story further. I also started writing out the script to get the story on the page and have begun to conceptualize the layouts of different pages
The concept stages of a project are wild because even though both these sheets weren't made very long after each other. To me at least, they convey entirely different characters. And that's what this part of the process is about: drawing the things in your story until the true essence of them emerges.
Cat Code
Cats gotta go by the cat code
No not a computer that’s a kill code
Cept when a cats cut cables killing code
Killing the computer with the cat code
2.
When a cat kills you with a cat code where do you go? Is there a heaven for life born out of symbols? Is hell the tranlation? Or was this liminal space always the final desination
paranoia is a bad dream made by a mind that's too self aware.
Wake up
please
alright
it's okay
to dream a little longer
Week Four
Been working on this character sheet for such a long time and for what reason? I ask and ask but I get no answer
Also now at the point of actually making comic pages. If I had unlimited time I would develop the concept further before getting started, but there's a unique kind of learning that happens when you dive straight in. Hoping to learn more, both about conveying the story I'm wanting to tell, and about the process of making comics as a whole
Week Five
ALIEN HOMIES
These are the homies.
1. The homie on the left is ... ... comes from a planet where they ... for the ... before setting fire to the ... before they ... They're very forward thinking in that way. I met ... on a meditation retreat at the ... We stayed in touch because ... is a great listener except when ... ... ...
2. The homie in the middle is Steve. Steve is wanted across fifty dimensons for galatic war crimes. We met when he tried to frame me for arson in the SHINYSHINYTHESUNITBURNS quadrant but because of my air tight alibi attending tech in action here on Earth I got off scot free. Steve has hated me ever since. Luckily for me, on Steve's planet hatred is an emotion experienced in five different dimensions and he only hates me on the third dimension.
3. Homie on the far right is Surptiknuk the Conquerer. He's made a reuptation for himself for traveling to different galaxies, disgusing himself as one of the locals before failing to conquer the planet miserably. He came to Earth after failing to conquer the puffle planet where he now resides in Idaho. He had imminent plans to start conquering the midwest but got sidetracked when he discovered kittens and now works nonprofit at the local animal shelter. We met when I caught him trying to stealing cats and communicating with them in an unknown language.
Now you've met the homies. The only question left is what crimes will they commit?
Week Six
weeping angels (haha)
Turtle Olympics
"Hall-ywood" I was born in Beverly Hills California. My parents lived in Los Angeles until I was two when I moved to West Virginia.
"Montani Semper Liberi" This is West Virginia's state motto. It means Mountaineers are always free. I made trees for West Virginia because the forest effected me a lot growing up and is one of my favorite things about the state.
":)" I got my first frog when I was five. His name was Jub Jub. i was OBSESSED with frogs as a kid. (Still am but) It wa snext level. Currently I have my tree frog Elvis back at home. He has a very big chin.
"art gives me butterflies" Though I didn't really start painting with acrylic paint until after I started doing digital art, this picture looks more childlike than my other art icon so I'm putting it before my tablet icon.
"Sheldon" My dear parrot. He's been with me for nine years and I cannot describe how close we are.
"Caffeine was a Big Discovery For Me in Middle School"
"16" Me at maybe 15 or 16 I wanted to have colorful hair for so long and I was surprised when I asked my mom and she fully approved. For the second half of middle school, and the first half of high school I went through so many different hair colors. I just love how connected it made me feel to color.
"DIGITAL ART" Digital art was such a game changed everything. I started getting really obsessed with improving my art in 2015. And at first I started by drawing and coloring on paper and then coloriung digitally with a mouse, but the tablet was a total game changer. It really opened a whole new world of illustration for me and it allowed me to finally be able to animate.
"pushing daisies" I've always been obsessed with nature and by extension flowers, but recently even more so. Probably because of Midsommar.
"New Dawn in NYC" Moving to NYC has changed my life completely I'm just infinitely grateful for the chance to grow in this place. :)
Tim's Vermeer
There's a lot I really appreciate about Tim's obsession with this technical achievement. It reminds me a lot a lot about fandom, and the lengths people go to emulate things that they appreciate. That particularly, is something I really connect to. Tim took an entirely technical approach to that which I admire because of how different it is to how I think. He’s a really fascinating figure. The way, not only with his pursuit of this artistic achievement through technical means, but with the way he approaches all his work; the lengths he goes to and how he is willing to take something apart to understand how to emulate it himself.
Week 7
The Walker House
A partial blueprint of The Walker House in There's a Ghost in the Machine. Belonging to Alan Walker, the house is large and features predominatly gothic revival-esq architecture. The rooms shown are the ones most essiential to the story: The living room and the basement. The lviing room contains predominatly items beloning to Ada. Her laptop and her various drinks scattered around her residency of the couch. But the painting on the wall behind the couch is a painting of Alan. The basement contains a computer belonging to Alan Walker. It is in contrast to Ada's laptop because it's an older model of a Macintosh computer.
I made the stroke larger so the designs were visible, but the stroke would be smaller for carving.
My design is a coffin. I thought it was a good choice because coffins are made of wood and while it has different planes to build together it was a challenge because of the different lengths of it's sides. The coffin I belive, is a functional design. I also designed an accompanying tombstone, but because the top of the tombstone curves I had problems designing the top. If there isn't a way to design a curved top I can modify the design so it is a rectangular tombstone.
My Lamp design is a computer because it fits with my theme. The way the design would operate is you'd thread the led through the back of the computer and you'd cover the screen with a clear/translcent pane so that the light is reflective of the way an actual computer screen emits light.
over a cup of coffee, everyday, I decide who I am, or not, today.

Lyrics
stars fall out of orbit and into the street
crossing on their way to make us meet
now we walk home together the kind of thing you don't expect
the things i hated when we first met
are now my favorite
i guess you'll never know
that this isn't the way I go
suffice to say when i walk with you i walk the long way home
i take the long way home and i do it for you
i know it's not much as i know that you don't have a clue
tell me you see me or tell me the truth
tell me is it true?
it's this distance i have to keep
the length of these sidewalks and the length of these streets
the kind of thing i pray you don't suspect
the things you hated when we first are now your favorite
i hope you'll never know that this isn't the way I go
suffice to say when i walk with you i walk the long way home
i take the long way home and i do it for you
i know it's not much as i know that you don't have a clue
tell me you see me or tell me the truth
tell me is it true?
